The iconography on this lamp associates the Hanukkah celebration with the founding of the State of Israel. Two lions in heraldic position hold a crown, labeled the Crown of Government. This is a reference to a passage in the Ethics of the Fathers (4:17), which names four aspects of life symbolized as four crowns. The lamp also bears the state seal of Israel - a menorah between two olive branches - and a sword and olive branch above, recalling Israel's Defence Forces insignia.
