A series of posters defaming prominent supporters of Alfred Dreyfus, Musée des Horreurs began appearing weekly following Dreyfus's retrial in late 1899. The series was stopped by order of the French Ministry of the Interior about one year later. Among the persons caricatured was the Jewish journalist and political leader, Joseph Reinach, nephew of Baron Jacques de Reinach, who was involved in the notorious Panama Canal scandal in 1892. Here, Joseph Reinach, depicted as the king of bribery, clutches his uncle's alleged list compromising 104 public figures that supposedly granted him unlimited influence over French politics.
