Walter Fraenkel (1879-1945), shown at age one, became a professor of metallurgy at the University of Frankfurt. With his wife Lili, he immigrated to America in 1940 and was employed at the American Smelting and Refining Company in Perth Amboy New Jersey, until his death in 1945. His brother (c.1870-early 1940s), shown at age seven, poisoned himself the day before he was to be deported to a Nazi concentration camp.
