This long-necked globular bottle is probably the form referred to in the Talmud as the Tzlohit or flask (Zevulun and Olenik 1979: 18). It functioned much like the modern bottle; the large flasks "held in two hands" were designed to hold wine, which would have been poured into cups during the meal.
