Not On View

Jewish Giant is typical of Diane Arbus's frank, objective, and even disarming approach to her subjects. The inherently voyeuristic aspect of her photographs often reveal people ill at ease, looking awkward. This degree of vulnerability, however, permitted the photographer to identify with her subjects, as it mirrored her own self-doubt and questioning.
