These textiles were part of the dowry of Estrella Youshah Aroeste who married at the age of 17 in 1908 in Monastir. Two years later she emigrated to the United States.

The gold embroidery that marks these textiles generally signifies ceremonial use and may indicate that the covers were used on special occasions like holidays. The gold on light purple silk is typical of the embroidery of other Greek communities like Ioannina. The lightness of the motifs and their ornamental arrangement indicate a late date.
