These figurines reflect the importance of human and animal representation in the Ancient World. The 14th and 13th centuries BCE were a time of active trade between Greece, Cyprus and the Levant, which explains the presence of figurines such as the Mycenean bull at ancient sites in Israel. Figurines like these may have been used in unofficial cults related to fertility.
