The composition of the veil, a continuous border decoration along the edge and a floral spray emerging diagonally from each one of its corners is typical of many Islamic textiles, for example, those from the Ottoman Empire. Gold-embroidered tulle was particularly used for wedding garments in Persia and represented a portion of the wealth that belonged to the bride.
