For this series Simmons created dollhouses in the style of the American suburban home. Photographed in large scale, these surreal evocations of mid-twentieth-century consumerism of the middle class form a highly personal, feminist exploration of women's traditional domestic roles and of the postwar American culture in which the artist was raised.
