The painting shows the village Abu-Tor facing the east side of Mount Zion in Jerusalem. Abu-Tor is a village half of which is Arab and half of which is Jewish. This is a meeting point of two people and two cultures.
I was attracted by the geographical meeting between the yellow desert and the green, between the wild and cultivated and between the hard and the soft.
There is tension and difficulty in this point, yet the light unifies them.
