Not On View

The Jewish Museum commissioned Allan Wexler to create a suite of twelve mezuzot which are installed throughout the building. On display here is a second set that the artist created for the Museum's collection. Using a pure white background as a constant element, Wexler created a series of variations as he explored a number of themes-how to display the klaf (scroll), how much (or little) text to reveal-and posed metaphorical questions related to the mezuzah's placement at an architectural threshold.
