Kupfer created a series of eight jewel-like containers in 1992-94. They were exhibited for the first time at the National Museum of Decorative Art in Buenos Aires in 1995, and again at the Kunstindustriimuseet in Copenhagen in 1997. The artist has based his patterns on ancient Chinese lattice designs which are formed by the intersection of periodic force-lines.
