In her series Family Revisited, Andrea Stern displays an affection for her relatives even as she offers a critique of affluent Jewish families, particularly her own. In this photograph, the artist's brother and nephew observe the Sabbath in their stylish Manhattan aprtment. While the lit candles reveal their adherence to the Jewish faith, the prints above their dining table by renowed American artist Richard Serra refer to thier social status.
