The finials come from the one-time large Jewish community in Essaouira, Morocco, which comprised 60% of the city's population until the 1960s.
They are not of typical Moroccan style and technique, being of filigree, which was a technique distinctive to Essaouira. The work is very fine filigree for that city. The form reflects the connection oft the Moroccan Jewish community with Europe and they can be compared to 18th century Dutch finials in their filigree work and form.
