An inscription plaque on the Torah case indicates it was donated to a synagogue along with the pair of Torah finials, a Torah pointer and a reader's desk cover, by Rachel Pizarkar, wife of Moses Benjamin Pizakar. Her last name suggests she was a member of the Bene Israel Jewish community in India.
