The candleholders on this lamp were made from cartridge shells. The aluminum bench portion could have been made from a canteen or mess kit; occasionally metal from large pieces of military equipment such as zeppelins, was available as well. According to the museum’s records, this Hanukkah lamp was made during World War I.
