The Hebrew inscription reads, "This is a holy vessel given by Solomon son of Meshullam 'And she, she also said' (Genesis 20:5), to uphold the commandment." The biblical notation in the inscription refers to Sarah and is probably an oblique reference to the donor's wife as joint donor.
