This cape appears to be a set with a skullcap and tefillin bag. From their size they appear to have been made for a bar-mitzvah boy. The deep red color with silk embroidery, as well as the placement and motifs of the decoration, suggest that the ensemble was made for a young man whose family came from North Africa or the Ottoman Empire.
