American, 1912-1980

Born 1912, New Haven, Connecticut
Died 1980, Orlando, Florida

Ausubel studied acting and worked in puppetry and theatrical production before becoming a photographer. She became a member of the Photo League in 1938. When Lewis Hine's estate was donated to the League in 1941, she became chair of its Lewis Hine Committee. She also contributed articles to Photo Notes and participated in the exhibition "This Is the Photo League" (1948–49). In 1970 she co-edited A Treasury of Jewish Poetry with her husband, Nathan Ausubel. Her work appeared in the exhibition The Women of the Photo League at Higher Pictures Gallery, New York (2009).
