Bea Pancoast joined the Photo League in 1946, when she was in her late thirties or early forties, and until the organization's dissolution she served on several committees. She was close friends with Rebecca Lepkoff and Sy Kattelson; in 1954, three years after the Photo League had disbanded, she shared a photography studio with Kattelson, Marvin Newman, Sonia Meyer Handelman, and John Ebstel on Fourteenth Street. She lived on MacDougal Street in New York's Greenwich Village.
