Ann Cooper
American, b. 1912
Born 1912, Manhattan, New York
Cooper joined the Photo League in 1946. In 1977 she wrote a biographical sketch (unpublished; in the archives of the photography scholar Anne Wilkes Tucker, Houston), in which she stated that while she had never become a professional photographer, her experience at the Photo League was the reason she continued to make photographs in subsequent decades. In the 1970s, as a resident of New Hyde Park, New York, she taught in a continuing-education program. Her work was included in the exhibition The Women of the Photo League at Higher Pictures Gallery, New York (2009).
